Care      Basics

Basic care

webb_77201

The first and most basic hair care rule - no matter what kind of hair you have, they must always be clean. As a result, the main part of our hair care is an appropriate number of the hair washing and rinsing. It seems that shampooing your hair is very simple. However, if you do not want any damage to your hair, certain rules shall be objected:
  • Before hair wash, especially if hair are dense and long, they must be thoroughly combed through in all directions in order to trigger all the dirt that accumulated on the scalp and hair including styling product left-overs. All this further stimulates the capillary blood flow and, in addition hair will be far less mat after the wash.
  • Thoroughly wet all the hair with warm water. Do not use very hot or cold water for hair wash as it can affetct the scalp balance. Cold water suddenly narrows blood capillaries and it also does not remove all the impurities. On the other hand too hot water dries off the scalp and skin may start to desquamate.
  • Use small amount of shampoo to evenly distribute through the hair. Modern shampoos are quite effective, so even long hair wash requires one teaspoon of the product and just a few drops will be sufficient for short hair. So even if you take a lot of shampoo hair will not be any cleaner, but it will take more time and water to rinse out this shampoo. If shampoo is very concentrated, it can be diluted with water. Also you do not want to pour shampoo directly on the head as it will not distribute evently throughout your hair to remove dirt, you want to rub it between your palms first.
  • Never rub hair as they can be mechanically damaged, use a gentle circular fingertip motion to massage your hair and scalp till shampoo will foam. A shampoo producing a lot of foam does not necessarily reflect the quality shampoo, another shampoo can be completely foam free but very good to cleanse all the dirt.
  • Do not shampoo for too long, it takes just a few seconds for shampoo substances to activate. However if shampoo contains balsam, some specific active substances or special pigments, then there might be a need for more shampoo action, always follow displayed directions in such cases.
  • Any shampoo should be rinsed out thoroughly with warm water, so your hair are shiny and fluffy, if some shampoo remains in hair makes hair opaque and sticky, they get dirty again more quickly. Basically triple amount of water and time shall be used for rinsing in comparison to a hair wash itself. If scalp is healthy you can end the rinsing with lukewarm or cooler water.
  • After shampoo is rinsed out use conditioner, balsam, mask or other similar product for hair not to matt and easy combing. These products should be evenly distributed over the slightly towel-dried hair from roots to ends, retained per indicated instructions and rinsed out thoroughly with lukewarm water. However, if you use same purpose leave-in products, they must be used on towel-dried hair and not rinsed off. After conditioning hair looks improve significantly, they are more likely to be fluffy and naturally shiny.
How often do we have to wash the hair? As soon as needed. If you have to do it every day and you don't have some major problems with your hair and scalp, some light shampoos for everyday use will do the job. Before using these shampooes it is better for comb hair through, same applies if any scalp violations are present. However, if lots of styling product is used or your hair is damaged chemically, etc., combing is not a good idea and more specific care products shall be selected. In such cases, moisten hair with warm water, add some shampoo into palm and distribute evenly through hair, massaging lightly your scalp. Massage for about 5 minutes moving from the crown toward the hair line in all directions. There is no need to rub hard as dripping down shampoo foam cleanses well and scalp and hair. Rinse out shampoo with plenty of warm water, never use hot water for rinsing. Our hair like soft water (containing few or no calcium or magnesium salts) the most. As a rule, tap water mostly is very hard and not quite suitable for hair and scalp washing and rinsing. Most simple way to soften the water is either boil it or add ¼ teaspoon of soda powder per 1 liter. However, the very minimal thing you can do for your hair is to use a proper rinse-out conditioner. If you want to give your hair a special rinsing treat you can boil some amount of water and then ice freeze it in advance and than let it warm up naturally. Scientists have confirmed that ice water has a significantly different molecular structure and, in addition, some strong biostimulating properties. Regular use of such water improves scalp condition and strengthens the hair.
