Hair is a derivative of skin, composed of hardened skin epidermal cells. The total number of human hair is about 5 million, of which only 1 million is for hair of the head, and out of a million of those approximately only 150 thousand to go on the human skalp itself. In addition hair quantity depends on its natural color. The hair color reflects the hair follicle density, the density of hair in other words. Dark-haired have about 110 thousand scalp hair, but most of them have an average thickness, red-haired have about 90 thousand scalp hair, but most of them are really thicki; brown-haired can have up to 140 thousand hair and blondes have up to 150 thousand hair, but they are significantly thinner in comparison to red-haired. Scalp hair quantity and type depends on the ethnic factor as well. European hair can be straight, wavy or curly, their cross-section is circular or oval in shape and they are slightly thinner than the Asian hair. Asian hair is harder and thicker; they are almost always straight and have the cross-section in form of a disc. African hair usually has a band or spiral shape or cross-section. Hair density is on average same to Europeans. In any case, the growing hair type depends on its hair follicle form. As body ages hair follicle density decreases. Head hair density depends on the genetic characteristics of the human body, inheritance and the immune status of the ethnic factor. Hair length depends on many factors, one of those is also ethnic: Asian hair is longer than the European, an African is shorter. Hair lives from a few months to several years. Eyelash hair live from 150 to 200 days, the scalp hair on average live from 2 to 6 years or more. It is determined, that hair growes 1/2 to 3/4" long a month. When someone's hair length does not exceed 5 feet length it can be assumed that they were grown in about 10 years. The scalp hair count could be from 30 to 150 thousand, one square inch of its hairy part can have from 18 to 500 hairs. The thickness of the hair depends on age and individual characteristics. Newborn hair thickness ranges from 20 to 40 mk. (1mk. = 0001mm.), An adult ranges from 70 to 100 mk. And the older man from 50 to 70 mk. Often one hair follicle is growing groups of 2-3 hairs, sometimes even 4. An appearance of our hair is essentially described in by their
color and
form.
