In order to properly care for skin you need to know what type it is. Healthy skin can be four basic types: normal, dry, oily, and combined. But often we have to deal with "unhealthy" skin, which can be sensitive, fading (rapidly aging) and problem. Skin type has to be determined at least once a season, because, depending on the time of the year, nutrition, lifestyle, age, skin may change - oily or combined to a dry, normal to combined, moreover, the very same individual’s skin may consist of dry, normal, oily and, even, problem areas. Generally, the distinction between the types of skin is rather conditional because there are lots of transitional stages within different skin types.
Normal skin is soft, elastic, smooth, not stained; it looks healthy, softly colored and smooth. Normal skin has a balance of a fat and moisture content, so it does not seem to be dry or greasy by touch. Normal skin does not require special care, but requires basic care and protection from the harmful environmental effects. It should be periodically cleaned and moisturised.
Dry skin is sensitive, mat, elastic, fine, silk bu touch. Up to a certain time, it seems perfect, but it looks transparent and glows from the inside, and very quickly grows old and wrinkles prematurely. Dry skin is afraid of everything: sun, wind, sea water, the air temperature variations, strong cosmetic products, soaps, gets quickly irritated. This skin requires constant gentle care, protection and moisturizing.
Oily skin is always shiny, has a fatty surface and rough structure, often acne, visible and usually enlarged pores - it reminds of orange-peel. However, oily skin retains more elasticity, and the aging process begins significantly later than for the dry skin. Unfortunately, the skin gets red and irritated faster, is prone to itch. It should be cleaned more and protected against irritation.
Mixed skin structure is uneven, some places are oily, and other places - dry. Over the years, the mixed type of the skin may change - usually back to normal. Care must be selected in accordance with the following features of the skin.
Sensitive skin - any type of skin reacts to external effects, but sensitive skin is a characteristic of the excessive reaction to the usual things - it may be redness, irritability, the tendency to allergic phenomena, and so on. Sensitive skin is usually smooth, slightly transparent with clearly visible blood vessels inside. This skin needs friendly cleaning and good nutrition.
Fading skin - the skin with the signs of aging, bypassing of a certain age limits, for example, for pre-aging, associated with ultraviolet radiation, metabolic disorders, liver, gastrointestinal and other diseases or malaises, with the smoking and alcohol overdoses, with a lack of rest and so on. Such skin care requires more attention, efforts and the strengthening or curative treatment and procedures.
Problem skin is oily skin with a strong propensity to acne, especially due to chronic pathologies and their periodic renewals. Summarizing problematic skin - it is not an unhealthy oily skin version, it is a whole body, his internal organs and systems malfunction testimony. And this is an approach for a problematic skin care and therapy choice.
